Freija

FREIJA could be described as sour and sweet. The melodies are quite classical inspired but with a very poppy undertone. Her lyrics are honest, rough, pure and might be shocking in an ironic way. Freija plays the piano herself but this fact doesn’t stop her from entertaining the crowd very naturally.

The bass guitar is played by Freija’s cousin Koen D’Hondt. Before he started to play with FREIJA he was the composer, singer and bass player of Nudex.

The drummer Marek Monsenski has a lot of experience with different bands like ‘volgt’

Freija D’Hondt was born on 24th October 1982. As a young child Freija already made her own songs on the piano. Later she studied at the Steinerschool and developed her voice as she sang in the choir of this school. At the age of 18 she went to ‘dé kunsthamaniora’ and studied musical for one year. She wrote songs with Ehran Turken (Pragha Kahn) and Frank Struyf aka Zolex who played these songs in Ibiza and at La Rocka. During five year she sang in the coverband Revival.

The last years she plays her own compositions. Occasionally solo (vocals and piano) but mostly with her supporting band.

Sinds januari the band FREIJA is working on a very intimate record that will be released soon.
